To all Walker Lakeshores Landowners Association Members,

At the July 21, 2018 Annual/General Membership/Election Day meeting, in accordance with our Red Book Rules and Regulations, an election for twelve (12) Directors and four (4) Officers will be conducted for Walker Lakeshores Landowners Association (WLLA).   A nominee must be committed to serving a three-year term; however, due to unusual circumstances leading to the many Board vacancies, one, two and three-year terms will be determined by the number of votes received during the election process.   This one-time procedure will bring us in compliance with the Red Book Appendix II, Article VIII, Elections, for the future.   All nominees must be in good standing, prepared to attend a minimum of nine (9) meetings during the year and serve on at least one (1) committee. All Directors and Officers have a fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interest of the community. 

 Any member in good standing is eligible to submit a Consideration for Nomination letter.  A short biography describing their experience in community involvement, their skills, and how those attributes will be used for the betterment of the WLLA community may be submitted to help the voters determine their best choices for the open positions.    These letters and biographies can be e-mailed, dropped off or mailed to the WLLA office no later than May 26, 2018.  Each submitted biography will be posted in the clubhouse, placed on the WLLA website and in the June newsletter along with the slate of candidates.

Nominations from the floor from members in good standing will be heard at the May 19, 2018 General Membership Meeting.  If in attendance, nominees from the floor should verbally confirm acceptance of the nomination.   It would be helpful, as well as beneficial to all nominees, for those individuals to come prepared to speak about themselves. Directors and the general membership may want to ask questions of potential candidates.  If someone is nominated by another member, but unable to attend, they should confirm their interest in running by sending a Consideration for Nomination letter to the WLLA office no later than the          May 26, 2018 deadline.   If they would like, a short biography to be posted on the website and newsletter, they should include that with their letter.

The election timeline is as follows:

·         Monday, April 2, 2018

o   Consideration for Nomination letters accepted from any WLLA member who is in good standing.

·         Saturday, May 19, 2018 (General Membership Meeting)

o   Nominating Committee presents candidates who submitted letters of Consideration for Nomination.

o   Nominations from the floor are heard and recorded.

·         Saturday, May 26, 2018

o   Deadline for submitting hand delivered and/or postmarked Letters of Consideration for Nomination and biographies.

·         Friday, June 1, 2018

o   Absentee ballots are available in the WLLA office Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 – 2pm. 

o   The slate of candidates is posted. 

o   June Newsletter will be released listing the slate of candidates and the submitted biographies. 

·         Saturday, July 14, 2018

o   Deadline for sealed absentee ballots must be postmarked and/or received at the WLLA office Friday and Saturday from 9 am– 1 pm.

·         Saturday, July 21, 2018 (Annual/General Membership Meeting/Election Day)

o   Election Committee opens the sealed ballot box at the Board of Directors table and counts ballots to announce winners.

The Committee is working hard for the community to make the upcoming election fair and transparent.   It is important for us to earn the trust of the WLLA membership and we will continue to communicate any updates.
